Joanne inspires us to get our hands dirty and feel the soil in our hands again – her work is truly inspiring!
Joanne is a community garden activist based in Donegal. She runs a social enterprise in Gortahork called OURganic Gardens, a four-acre site where she runs workshops on growing vegetables & designing food and permaculture gardens.
At the moment, she is busy creating online course content with the upheaval of Covid-19.
Joanne tells us how she went from stay-at-home mum to becoming the chairperson of Community Gardens Ireland & founder of a stunning outdoor environmental education centre in Donegal where she is leading the charge for gardening & permaculture and making her impact on food sustanability for the future.
Joanne started out in 2013 by facilitating horticulture classes with community groups; she has worked with over 15 community gardens and has won awards with Save Our Planet, the Irish Food Writers Guild, JCI and has been shortlisted for a star award through Aontas – the National Adult Learning Organisation.
